All the incidents occurred in Bay Shore, Suffolk County Police said,
While investigating an unrelated case, three Third Squad detectives observed Thomas Shane and Thomas Shane Jr. spray paint locations on 5th Avenue, near 4th Avenue, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Further investigation by Third Precinct Crime Section officers determined the pair had been in the area for approximately 90 minutes, spray painting multiple businesses, police said.
The elder Shane, 48, of Shirley, was charged with six counts of Making Graffiti for spray painting the following locations:
- Mobil Gas, 211 5th Ave., Bay Shore
- Jennifer Total Beauty Salon, 1820 5th Ave., Bay Shore
- MetroPCS, 1820 5th Ave., Bay Shore
- 5th Ave. Appliances, 1833 5th Ave., Bay Shore
- Jose’s Hair Cutting Inc., 1831 5th Ave., Bay Shore
- La Cubanita Deli, 1827 5th Ave., Bay Shore
Shane Jr., 26, of the same address as his father in Shirley, was charged with four counts of Making Graffiti for spray painting the following locations:
- Jennifer Total Beauty Salon, 1820 5th Ave., Bay Shore
- A vacant building, 91 5th Ave., Bay Shore
- 5th Avenue Appliances, 1833 5th Ave., Bay Shore
- Infinity Physical Therapy, 1823 5th Ave., Bay Shore
The two were released on bail and will be arraigned at a later date.
